Dusty Springfield
Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Carla Thomas... Dusty Springfield's fifth album put the British singer on a par with the great soul/R&B divas of the post-war era – even if she wasn't there from the start. Released in the US in 1969, the album initially flopped, despite featuring the UK top ten hit “Son Of A Preacher Man” and other high-caliber tracks such as “So Much Love,” “Breakfast In Bed,” “Just One Smile,” “I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore,” and “Just A Little Lovin'.” It was only years later that “Dusty In Memphis” was celebrated as one of the greatest albums of all time, and in 2001 it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
