Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another is a propulsive, big-canvas action thriller with a satirical pulse - his first IMAX release and the most ambitious production of his career. Shot in VistaVision with Michael Bauman (cinematography) and with an amazing score by frequent collaborator Jonny Greenwood, the film pairs Anderson’s precision with star power from Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, and breakout Chase Infiniti.

From its first screenings, critics recognized it as one of Anderson’s strongest films to date, seamlessly aligning with his lineage of masterpieces like The Master, Phantom Thread, Boogie Nights, Magnolia and of course There Will Be Blood.

One Battle After Another was quickly framed as a prime Oscar contender across picture, director, screenplay, and acting categories, with particular buzz for Chase Infiniti, Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn.

One Battle After Another is loosely adapted from the Thomas Pynchon book Vineland, and follows a “washed-up” former revolutionary named Bob (DiCaprio) who lives off-grid with his teenage daughter, Willa (Infiniti). When a nemesis resurfaces after 16 years and Willa goes missing, Bob is forced out of hiding to rescue her, confronting the violent and chaotic fallout of his past.

"One Battle After Another" won 6 Academy Awards at the 2026 Oscars, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (Sean Penn).
