At the end of the 19th century in the southwest of France, a ten-year old boy, Alfred Vizon, nicknamed 'little Muratou, ' wrenched from his grandmother's home in the Périgord countryside, carves a life for himself studying agronomy at the time when the Bordeaux vineyards are devastated by the phylloxera disease. Grown-up, Alfred leaves for the French colony of Algeria in 1911 to work as an American grapevine rootstocks specialist. The First World War abruptly changes his path when he is called to defend his country. In 1914, he becomes a soldier in the French Colonial Corps of light infantry, a Tirailleur or skirmisher in an indigenous regiment, fighting in the difficult theaters of Northern France, Tunisia and Morocco. Resilient and passionate, 'little Muratou' will lead you on an exciting adventure during the complex time of the Belle Epoque.
