Painting the Titanic wreckage beneath the sea and the disaster, itself, led me to use them as impetus to prepare a collection of new poems to publish. The Titanic disaster was to 1912 as the Trade Towers terrorist attack was to 2001. And another disaster has recently become the Covid-19 Pandemic beginning in 2019, which has not yet been conquered. Although there is hope with effective vaccines on the horizon, the population must still continue to follow the basic protective measures: wearing a mask, physical distancing of at least six feet, and washing or sanitizing hands often. If we don't continue these measures in lieu of a vaccine, many will continue to die. Writing poetry depends on circumstances. Much like the virus, itself, composing a poem sometimes has a mind of its own. It can turn up anywhere and once it catches on, it can't be stopped. A poem germinates like a seed. Unless the writer writes down those magical first words as they come, they may be lost forever.
