Sustainable Development in Universities Lucas Veiga Avila

The concerns about sustainability have been around since the middle of the last century. But, it was after the Brundtland Report (1987) that the United Nations Organization (UNO) took up the debate with greater intensity, proposing a worldwide mobilization for sustainable development - SD, as "that which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs". Engaged in educational processes, many universities around the world invest and finance research and projects, aiming to generate knowledge and develop products that help drive the global economy, and it is of paramount importance that they organize themselves into partnerships to transform science and technology.
