In Book 2, the treefolk call on Marta for help. This time the lives of the entire treefolk village are at stake.

In the past, the treefolk rescued Marta when she was almost lost forever in the deep forest. Now, when they come asking for help, there's no way she would turn them down. Their desperate situation forces them to come to the one place they fear being exposed: a human town.

Marta soon learns that something is draining the life force of the treefolk and several of them are dying.

Together with her friends Ash, Oakbloom, and Flintleaf, Marta embarks on a quest to discover what's killing the treefolk and how to stop it. Doing this requires Marta to grow in skill and strength so she can help her friends and their families. She knows that she's the only one who can do this. She cannot give up.

Adding to the danger, another terrible force, unfriendly humans, threaten the treefolk. The townspeople are not welcoming with beings like the treefolk. So, when walking, talking trees show up, Marta must work hard to keep their presence hidden.

Will Marta be able to protect them all? Will her own people see her as a traitor?
