Joseph Sage grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a small rural town. As a young boy in a conservative community, he did not feel he fit in with other boys his age. Desires to cross-dress and experience life as a girl continued to gather strength even as Joseph tried to push them away. In early 2018, Joseph came to the realization that the feelings he had been trying to resist for more than 20 years were actually gender dysphoria. This revelation was quickly followed by a stronger conviction that he is more than the sum of his parts, and his faith and family are essential elements of long-term happiness. Central to his journey is the realization that at some point everyone, whether they transition or not, has to come to accept themselves as they are. This book looks to the past, the present, and future in Joseph's attempt to understand the nature of his dysphoria, how to cope with it, and what the future holds. Part memoir, part self-help book, it is an honest story of self-discovery. At times frustrated, at times inspired, but always guided by loyalty to his family and the firm belief that God has something more in store for him.
