It's hard enough to know which path to take when you're thinking for yourself. Doubly so when we're constantly bombarded with 24-hour new cycles and four minute commercials. I hope it's at least part of our dream to go into the middle-of-nowhere and scream for a while. May be then we can find the inner calm. May be then we will have some respite, some relief. The open road is a romantic vision. For few can just pick up and leave without the eyes in the sky knowing exactly where they are. Truckers will tell you that they've seen America...at sixty miles an hour. Even hitch-hiking used to be a fairly benign way to cross the continent. Now-a-days one more likely will end their trip in a dumpster. The world gets smaller but the journey is always interesting...
