This book is created from parents' stories of successes and challenges shared on the GenParenting.com blog and from the parent trainings we have facilitated over the past thirty years. Through school programs, we have helped families with parent education classes. We continue to provide academic enrichment workshops that demonstrate how children can learn while engaged in a playful activity. Effective Parenting! Capable Kids! is designed to support culturally diverse parents of newborn through secondary school age children by developing effective parenting skills and literacy/academic activities as part of children's play. It provides strategies for successful communications, conflict resolution, extended support, school partnerships, and family recreation activities that promote the dynamic growth of children.
