The Economic Reformation Andrew Bodiford

Ever since 2007, the economy has not been the same. Recessions, slow growth, and massive inequality have plagued societies around the world. Meanwhile, we confront the challenge of climate change in the face of which capitalist business leaders have (perhaps unsurprisingly) done nothing. At the same time revolutionary technology like robots and AI are changing the entire way the economy works and how workers fit into it and these new changes present us with a choice - use new technology for the benefit humanity by making life easier or allow it to enrich the few who control it for profit while displacing those who do not. This crisis demands a rethink of how the economy functions. In this new world, old rules no longer apply. The coming changes in the economy to the role of work, the altered economic and ecological costs of production, and the capabilities of automation are truly civilizational in scope and require an intelligent response. While powerful people claim they know best about the economy because they know about business, they continue to ignore the most frightening risks to society today - climate change, inequality, and economic crisis. We know what they are. What should we do? To avoid catastrophe we need change. We need an economic reformation. The 21st Century has brought great transformations. New social conditions, awesome technologies, and global economic and ecological crisis force us to look at the world with fresh ideas. Andrew Bodiford tackles the irrational assumptions and outdated ideas that lie in the way of progress today. The Economic Reformation sheds the light of reason on the rot in the world's economy that prevents us from confronting our economic and ecological crisis head on and allowing the modern world work for everyone.
