Today, talking about the empowerment of Muslim women can be a sensitive issue. Debates are heated, opinions are strong. Many equate the empowerment of a woman with she being able to do what men can do, and better. For others, it means a total relinquishment of her traditional role as the primary nurturer and caretaker of the family unit. Even though there are many empowered Muslim women out there in the world, there are few who actually write about their personal experiences in order to share with the world how acting upon Islam and living a Muslim way of life actually made them more empowered, instead of oppressed. This book discusses the various aspects of a woman's empowerment in the light of Islam, by quoting poignant examples of some strong, influential and righteous Muslim women in Islamic history, and analyzing contemporary issues faced by women across the world, such as earning and spending money, and how their financial independence affects gender relationships.
