Could oil-rich algae save the world from petroleum, pollutants, and starvation? Professor Arthur Jenkins embarks on a project to genetically engineer algae into renewable nontoxic biofuels with edible by-products. However, his Taoist wife adamantly opposes her husband's research, believing humans must embrace the world as "it is" or evil arises from good, whence the nonbeing matrix procreates the being of reality. After an inadvertent exposure to polluted waters, the algae transmute into sentient beings with a unique collective awareness for survival. Designed for rapid growth in the harshest environments, they proliferate at an amazing speed throughout the waters of the world. These water dragons breathe rain and the fire of lightning at night as they continue to grow day and night, triggered by their self-made illumination that mimics the life-giving light of the sun. Unpredictably, the algae cause one very unusual and profound side effect to humans. Human beings were the kings of the world but now demoted to servants. Will anyone find the key to destroy the water dragons that Dr. Jenkins released from their den? How will the world change after this if humans manage to survive...?
