New Mexico Rock Art Robert Patli Frutos

What is the lure of rock art sites? It it their unusual beauty? Is it their uniqueness? Is it their sheer mystery? To most, they are a like a riddle that remains unresolved. Or have their meaning, with the passing of time, have become lost in obscurity. Or perhaps, rock art is simply a language of symbols that cannot be understood, by the modern world. If seen with a correct perspective they could indeed reveal themselves to be a language of symbols, rather than a language of words. And if we could know how to read them, and understand them, and make sense of them - what tremendous secrets and wonderment they would reveal. Perhaps this is the deeper reason we seek them out - because we feel something, simply by being there. Or perhaps, you just enjoy being in the beauty of nature, or delight in exploring the Southwest. Or perhaps you take pleasure in being in places of mystery or history. Or because, at these sites, as mentioned above, you can "feel" the importance of their significant meaning - through their energy, power and metaphor. Whatever your reason for visiting the petroglyphs and pictographs sites, the best experience will come when you visit them with an open heart and a quiet mind. And this book will help to get you there with ease... safe travels, and may your journey be rich with beauty and wonderment.
