How to Murder a Man Carlo Gebler First edition

In this unflinching and suspenseful story, Gébler takes a small slice of Irish history and brings it to life. In 1854, land agent Thomas French is dispatched to County Monoghan to persuade tenants to give up their land in return for free passage to America. The Ribbonmen, a murderous secret society, retaliate, threatening French, but are overcome by the land agent's more professional tactics. A gripping and intense story based on a real and bitter incident in Irish history.

First published to great acclaim in hardback by Marion Boyars in 1999.
