The distinguished tenor sax and bass tandem of John Coltrane and Paul Chambers recorded 58 separate sessions together, beginning with an October 27, 1955 Miles Davis Quintet and ending with Coltrane’s legendary New Jersey, May 23, 1961 recording of Africa Brass. Avid fans of the other’s individual style, Chambers used Trane on his three 1956 studio dates, yielding 11 outstanding tracks which mark the duos complete recordings under the leadership of Paul Chambers.
