Not without respect you could call **Johan Wagenaar** the Dutch *Richard Strauss*. Both wrote them virtuoso orchestral works that stand out for their brilliant orchestrations. Riccardo Chailly, brand new at the KCO, convinced the Decca label to invest in an album with seven concert overtures. That came out in 1990 and made the international music world aware of this forgotten tone poet.
