Made-for-TV war drama starring Michael Fassbender. At the beginning of the First World War, the Winnipeg section of the Canadian Army Veterinary Corps is travelling to a training camp when Lieutenant Harry Colebourn (Fassbender) saves an orphaned black bear cub from being killed. He names it Winnie and brings it to the camp to act as the unit's mascot, to the displeasure of Colonel Barret (Gil Bellows).
However, when the troops are called to fight on the front line, Colebourn is faced with a difficult decision about what to do with Winnie. The cast also includes David Suchet, Stephen Fry and Aaron Ashmore.
