Black Sabbath | Reissues November 2024
Black Sabbath's late '80s and early '90s era will be reborn in November 2024 with exclusive and very limited reissues of Headless Cross, Tyr, Cross Purposes and Forbidden. These albums were originally part of the Anno Domini: 1989-1995 box set, but are now being remastered separately on CD and crystal clear vinyl.
Headless Cross (1989) marked a new era for Black Sabbath with Tony Martin as frontman. With songs like "When Death Calls" and "Headless Cross", the album highlighted the band's ability to combine heavy riffs with melodic elements. The remastered version brings out the nuances of the production even more clearly.
Tyr (1990) continued in an epic direction with mythological themes and tracks like "Anno Mundi" and "The Sabbath Stones", where the band unfolded their more symphonic and grandiose sound. The improved sound quality on this edition emphasizes the album's atmospheric depth.
With Cross Purposes (1994), the band returned to a more classic heavy metal sound, and songs like "I Witness" and "Dying for Love" demonstrated a raw energy that now stands even stronger in the remastered edition.
Forbidden (1995) has long been a controversial album among fans, but the new remixed version sheds new light on its qualities. With improved production, songs like "The Illusion of Power" and "Get a Grip" take on a new dimension that highlights the band's experimental approach.
These reissues are a perfect opportunity to (re)discover an often overlooked period in Black Sabbath's history. With their improved sound quality and beautifully presented formats, they are an essential addition to any serious Black Sabbath vinyl collection .
