Barren Not Cursed
Unathi Kolanisi
One of the most painful experiences is to wish to have a child but fate decide otherwise especially for married couples who badly want to have a child. In most African countries it is regarded as shame and disappointment when married couple fail to produce fruit of their marriage which is a child and that married couple is often stigmatized especially if the problem is with a woman who is unable to conceive, derogatory words are used to shame the woman and at times made to feel like an outcast of the society. This book aim to break stigma associated with barrens and give hope to women who are unable to conceive and couples who do not have children to know that it is no bodies fault but fate chose otherwise. In most African countries women are subjected to verbal and physical abuse when they fail to conceive and at times suffer infidelity of their husband who end up impregnating women who can give them what they wish to have which is a child. Bareness is not a curse and no one request to be barren but fate decide otherwise. Let's normalize talking about bareness and not make it a taboo subject. Breaking stigma of bareness.
