I was driving cross country to see my foster parents when I got the message "The Colonel's missing." I should've ignored it. It resurrects a mission in Vietnam, one best forgotten: Snatching an NVA Colonel behind enemy lines and saving his life. What he uncovered back then explodes in the present. An elusive CIA agent hires me to find the Colonel, taking me to Houston, the Louisiana bayou, the Gulf, and Ohio. The only way to keep him safe is to destroy a drug ring and a gun running operation with the help of three families, a herd of longhorns, and some bucking broncos. A private investigator who's unnoticed. That's who I think I am, but the past is never the past.
