As parents our instinct is to step in and intervene whenever we feel that our children are going to get hurt(hand up here). Many times we end up taking away the obstacles and defining moments in our childrens' lives that may have taught them valuable life lessons. Defining moments in life help us to determine who we really are. These moments are often thrust upon us with little notice; suddenly we find ourselves in situations where we will make a decision, or observe a situation, and know that we are a different person than we were before the experience occurred. For 11 year old Zach, that defining moment came during the first game of his 2006 All-Star Season when he had to play the bench.
