Almost immediately Katie unearths multiple possible suspects and races against the clock, digging into motives, opportunities, and alibis. Hampered by a rare London snowstorm and tormented by self-doubt, Katie powers on until she identifies the abductor and finally has enough evidence to get the police and their resources involved. Once the police are on the case, despite being pushed aside by the investigation team, Katie doggedly continues to work the case from the sidelines and once again supplies the police with vital information.
