Settling down to family life and running a successful business aren't easy when the lure of trips into the past conspires to take him away. Hints of a threat to the quiet life appear and may have to be dealt with, but all the time, slips in judgement, letters from abroad and plain bad luck send the time traveller skittering through a series of historical or foreign events, struggling to get back home to the normal life that he swears to intend to settle down to.
