So, in this story, like Humpty Dumpty, the Elf has a great fall! But unlike Humpty, the Elf doesn't break into pieces. Instead he gives the man some pieces of his mind in the form of poetry. These poetic pieces are some ways in which "he" can be put back together again. Like Humpty Dumpty, we may feel like we are in pieces. Many fall apart. We can put ourselves back together again if we are in pieces by loving our "elf."
