What are we? is a poetry collection about heartbreak, stages of grief, love, and God. The book is organized by the answers a first love gave the author when she asked him "What are we?": Caterpillars, Sugar Cookies, House Contractors, Pressurized Rocks, and Puzzle Pieces. The poetry takes a look at how both small moments and big events influence a person's life. From diagnoses, to a single phone call at 12:08 am, to travelling to Ireland, to making wishes, and to moving, this poetry is a culmination of moments that have changed the narrator's life in an instant.
