Billy Brocks-an ex-Las Vegas criminal defense lawyer is in a race against time. He barely escapes death's grip while bedding a young prostitute named Ada Sanchez in a motel room in downtown Phoenix. She abandons her lifestyle of prostitution and goes with Billy back to Las Vegas with hopes of a better life, but her dreams are shattered in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, Billy's past is still lurking in his shadow and he learns that his deceased girlfriend Crystal Tradwell may have given him the same infectious disease that claimed her life, plus, one of his ex-clients has implicated him in the murder of a prominent doctor.
