The book tells the story of my grandmother's life. It begins in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, in Bohemia, in 1894, and it ends with the end of World War II. Not much has been written about the history of Czechoslovakia during those times, not much has been written about "mixed couples" during the Nazi times. Not many people have suffered from all the events of those times the way my grandmother did. It is a story of survival and sadness, but also of love and the love for life. It is a story about the horrific consequences of racism - a story we all should learn from still now.
