The Boise basin gold rush, largest in U. S. history. A rash of unsolved prospector murders. In 1879 the U. S. Army sent troops to forcibly relocate the Tukudeka (Sheepeater) Indians from their ancestral home of thousands of years in the wilderness of central Idaho, to Fort Hall. Golden Eagle's family, the last to be captured fights a desperate struggle to survive. In that same year a young Indian boy, 10 years of age, is caught in an avalanche. His body was never recovered. Over 100 years later he sits at a fire, warming himself and leaves his belt buckle in the fire to verify his true identity. It has been so long since he has been warm. While taking a winter snowmobiling vacation near Redfish Lake, Idaho, Maverick and Scarlet become entwined in events that will forever change their lives. Warrior, an ancient Indian, whose life is extended far beyond its natural lifespan once again plays a critical role in the lives of others.
