In an international conference in Africa, they seduced each other: she, without knowing it, as he remembered her drinking coffee and reading her paper, paying no attention to the important men surrounding her; he, as he stared into her eyes across a conference table. From different countries, backgrounds, cultures, religions and positions, they are now a couple. On either side of forty, each carrying the baggage of half a lifetime behind them, they face the tests of an intermittent togetherness in a dizzying environment that carries them from centers of world consideration of human challengers in New York and Geneva, to the ski slopes of the rich in St. Moritz and the second homes of the French and Spanish Riviera, and the realities of the lives they impact from the States to the Arab Gulf. Will their desire and need for each other grow and flower with compassion and selflessness or will they crash under the burden of everyday existence?
