Daddy was a good hardworking man that struggled everyday in his short 44 year old life to raise and feed his nine children and his wife. For many years, daddy drove an oil truck. Later on in life he built a store next to our three room house. The store served as a front for an illegal bar that he operated. Many nights, I made the choice to help him finish closing up. He would take me with him to grab a bite to eat. Also, daddy participated in gambling. It was not unusual for daddy to have $10,000 in his wallet. Every Friday night we would go to the ABC store and bought a total eight pints in four extra thick duty brown bags to buy alcohol to serve on the weekend. The Constable made the choice of informing us whenever the state was coming for a raid. The entrance to our bar was a steel door. Whenever the state came raiding we escaped through a trap door in the floor. This was not the best lifestyle to raise children. After mama died, I worked in the bar and could a pour a shot of liquor in the dark. Also, one night a drunken man came after me with a knife. I ran outside and he chased me out the door. While he was drunken and confused I managed to get back inside and lock the door. The police didn't bother your bar as long as there was no trouble. Satan seemed to have my course already laid out. Simply, I was the son of a bootlegger, both parents never attended church, didn't seem to have any expressions of faith by reading a Bible, and going to church. HE has chosen us in HIM before the foundation of the world, and having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by JESUS CHRIST to HIMSELF, according to the good pleasure of HIS WILL. However, he didn't plan on me attending a Bible Study one night where I discovered that I had been chosen before the foundation of the world to be adopted as a child by JESUS CHRIST to HIMSELF, and have my course rerouted. The next day, I torn down the bar that had served as wicked reminder of all the iniquity.
