Inside Opioid Addiction. As a broadcast journalist, I have had the opportunity to interview recovering addicts who deliver gripping details of their arduous journey fighting addiction. My passion for wanting to do this stemmed from my personal journey with one of my children whose addiction affected our immediate family and those closest to us. As a result, I am more sympathetic to the disease and have a better understanding of how an addict, once hooked, can't just say no. "UnCut" is to help families, loved ones, and anyone who has been or is being touched by opioid addiction. This transcript will help the reader better understand the cycle of addiction from initial use to rehabilitation. In the event drug use is suspected or confirmed, one will also find resources for help. The interviews are real and, at times, hard to comprehend. The names have been changed to protect recovery and anonymity of those who participated in telling their story. Because of my personal journey dealing with addiction, I was able to ask the appropriate questions to those that appear in this book. There will not be any type of medical explanations or hardcore statistics mentioned here. This book is strictly first-person accounts of dealing with addiction from those that lived the nightmare and by those who have dealt with a loved one with the addiction.
