Once a soldier, always a soldier. Altrae slayed thousands of Demons in an effort to build a better world where humanity can live in peace with all of the other races. The promise of peace motivated her to push past her limits, helping people to escape to the safety of the newly built cities. "All will be considered equal," she promised, "Humans, Beasts, Demon-Bloods, Angel-Bloods, Fae; it doesn't matter what you are or where you came from, you can find your home here." But after the last battle was won, she returned to the cities horrified by what she found. Humanity had crowned themselves rulers above all other races, enslaving the Demon-Bloods, ensuring the Beasts are trapped in the lower class, crowning only the Angel-Bloods with their favor. The Fae fled and started up their own city in the Outerlands. Behind all of this unrest was Adeline, a presumed fellow Angel-Blood who offered Altrae power to rule over the largest city, Eden. She accepted in hopes to sway Humanity's view of the other races, but decades rolled by without change. They insisted "Only Humanity Lives within God's Love." So Altrae returned to spilling blood, knowing what it would cost her.
