"A Field of Cucumbers" is a collection of thirteen short stories that capture a wide range of concerns that daily surround the characters and how they manipulate their situations at times to their advantage, at others with great pain and regret. These tales appeal in both their tragic and subtly sarcastic view of what the characters go through in their attempt to find reason and an appreciation of a world that is at once unjust yet unfolds opportunities at different turns.
