Chandabal Falls is little bit science fiction, but mostly action adventure targeting the age group of preteens, and young teens. It has been enjoyed by children as young as 7 and 8, as well as older teens and adults. It is the story of an adolescent boy living on another world that is very different from our own. Chandabar, or as his friends call him, Chandy, lives in a world, that is hundreds of times larger than earth, but it's a hollow planet, which spreads out the mass so much that its gravitational pull is about the same as on Earth. It has mountain ranges over a hundred miles high. It has giant rivers over a hundred miles wide, with cliffs and waterfalls so high that the even the giant rivers turn completely to clouds and mist before they reach the bottom. Chandy lives in a village on the shore of one of these great rivers. His people are farmers and hunters and fishers, with no modern technology, other than the ability to make basic tools such as plows, shovels, knives, spears, and rope. They build canoes and small boats for fishing on the river, but they never go too far out into the river, nor go downstream more than a few miles. They can't even see the other side of the river, and legend has it, that several miles further down, it falls a great cliff, more than a hundred miles high. But no one in living memory, who has ever attempted to travel down the steep gorge before the falls, has ever returned to verify the legend. A few years ago, a stranger joined their village. Old Man Schmoe knew things the others had never thought of, and talked of other planets, and stars, and gravity, and other ideas that didn't put food on anyone's table. Most of the villagers scoffed at him, but Chandy was a bright, curious boy who wanted to learn more about nature and the world he lived hin. Schmoe took an interst in teaching Chandy. Chandy wants to know what the great falls are like, and what about the world at the bottom? What curious new birds and plants and animals would he find there? But if he ventures that far, would he be able to make it back? Would he ever be able to see his friends and family again? This story takes Chandy on an incredible adventure, and the ride of his life!
