In the shadows of 9/11, and to honor the First Responders who perished there, a 50-year-old businesswoman, wife, and mother decided to leave her successful career behind and become a Firefighter/EMT. Out of shape, with no training or experience, with little more than a desire to serve, she traded in her pantsuits and heels for turnout gear and fire boots, her briefcase for an AED and Trauma Bag. Her one prayer for the over 15 years that she served was that she never ever bring dishonor to those in whose memory she served. This sometimes humorous, sometimes opinionated, sometimes tragic, always honest is an account of her adventures, challenges, and trials. It is written with the hope that it will awaken a spark in others to care for their fellow man and answer the call that may exist deep within themselves to exhaust themselves in the service of others.
