Becky Miller is a medical scientist who is losing her husband Paul to a Huntington's Disease. Becky is working on a cure using various samples from plants found in the mountains of Asia, which are being tested for medicinal use for neurodegenerative diseases at a medical testing facility she works at. Paul has come to terms with his degenerative mortality, yet Becky refuses to accept it and denies to herself of his condition. She meets Cindy, a elderly-age Asian patient in the hospital who is recovering from cancer, tells her an epic tale about Xu Fu who is given a quest to Penglai Mountain where he searches for a magician named Anqi Sheng and endures battles with dragons, spirits and demigods. Her story called, "The Lotus", takes Xu Fu along with 6,000 children on a journey to search for the Elixir of Life commissioned by the Emperor Qin Shi Huang, who feared death and hoping to find a way to live forever.
