Zmar Demson, a sixteen year old girl alone in the harsh world of Baranon, is left reeling when her tribe is murdered by the vicious Dragon Lord, Malghcarous. Alone and afraid, Zmar's only option is to band together with a misfit group of friends; a dragon, some elves, and a brazen human. Together with her new friends, Zmar does her best to find out why Malghcarous destroyed her family, and in the process finds that, no matter what he has done, the Dragon Lord is not her worst enemy.
