Sadie Sutter eagerly awaits her beau's proposal. But instead of proposing, Daniel Jantzi tells her he must move north to work in the factories. If he doesn't earn money quickly, his family will lose their farm. Although sad to see him go, Sadie understands, and they promise to stay close by writing.
