For the residents of the Tropical Islands of the Taino's, Lightning Cay Islet was a place best left undisturbed. The stories, past down from generation to generation told of roaming spirits and fearsome creatures that laid claim to the Cay. For twelve-year-old Michael Jones, life on the nearby Cairi Island, is a struggle. Six years after the mysterious disappearance of his mother, he is shunned by his village for being a troublemaker and his new stepmother Lucinda, doesn't know how to help him with the pain of losing his mother. After a heated confrontation with Lucinda, Michael runs away to the only place that he knows no one will follow, Lightning Cay. Now Michael must learn why the Cay is abandoned, and why they call the Islet cursed. There are creatures bound to the Cay and the one called Kifentior, thirsts for the souls of humans and seeks only to end the curse put upon them by their creator. Night is coming, and with it a fierce storm that threatens the foundations of the islands that Michael calls home. As the night drags on and a storm bears down, buried secrets come to light as Michael will find his courage and beliefs tested beyond his imagination.
