My girlfriends don't understand me. Richie, my roommate, is a pot head, and his drug dealer, Milt, unofficially lives with us. The world is moving past me as if behind a pane of glass. I can see and hear it, but I cannot connect with it. Then one lazy evening, while my roommates and I are minding our own business, quietly tripping balls on acid and weed, armed men in ski masks break in, put guns in our faces, and rob us.

That puts things in perspective. I'm going to do better with my life. I'm going to work hard and stay out of the cops way. I'm going to get back what was stolen from me... and then some.
