A fictionalized version of the life of Don Juan and his leadership of the fleet that was victorious at Lepanto; one of the greatest and most significant naval battles in history. This story reveals Don Juan's glorious accomplishments, his start in life as the ridiculed, bastard son of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles the Fifth and the half brother of the King of Spain, Philip the Second. Philip's kingdom encompassed the New World as well as much of Europe but was being threatened by the Ottoman empire which sought to conquer the entire Mediterranean region. Read how Philip, Don Juan and the other participants of the Allied forces overcame their reluctance to unite and defeat the greatly superior naval and military forces of the invading Ottoman Empire. Cervantes himself fought under Don Juan. He was wounded in the battle and is known as the "Maimed One of Lepanto".
