We all experience suffering in one form or another, and it can either be a faith debilitating obstacle in our spiritual journey or a tool through which the Lord produces maturity in us. The development of our soul is the tender soil that the Lord works toward fruitfulness. However, some Christians grow in maturity through suffering, while others experience a setback in their spiritual growth. Suffering demands the best of us but sometimes brings out the worst in us. It is no small feat to attempt to understand God's purpose in suffering. This book is designed to be used as either a personal study or in a small group setting. Read and answer questions by yourself or with others you know and trust. Feel free to read one section at a time or do a number of sections in one session if you have more time. I invite you to slow down and take time to reflect. Ponder God and his holy work of maturing his children during times of suffering and discover more of what he is doing in and through your life right now or in past painful experiences.
