Adopted as an infant, Phoebe has had a burning desire for as long as she can remember to know about her birth family. Now twenty-two and having recently graduated from college, she finally follows her heart and hires a private investigator to search for her roots. She is initially elated when the search reveals she has two living blood relatives, a grandmother and a twin sister. Thrilled with the discovery, Phoebe envisions a joyous reunion and happy, loving future. Things take a turn for the sinister, however, when meetings with the two women reveal them both to have complicated, even criminal pasts--pasts that have not only followed them into the present, but which now threaten to drag Phoebe into a world of mind games, manipulation...even murder.
