Barbara Hoffman, a recent widow, has moved back to her small hometown, where she expects to live out the rest of her days alone, perhaps with a cat. But then she meets Father Mikhail Dmitriev, a lonely Russian Episcopalian priest and single father. But there are problems. As a priest, Mikhail cannot have a personal, romantic relationship with any of his parishioners, and he would rather remain alone than threaten anyone's return to the faith. Also, he is quietly recovering from personal trauma, and does not feel anyone would ever love him romantically. For her part, Barbara is working on moving on from the loss of her husband, and starting her life over. Can these two see what's in front of them?
