Beatrice Lange has never spoken with a talking Christmas ornament, and she has definitely never used magic. At least, that's what she tells the talking Christmas ornaments she meets when she wakes up in the middle of the Yule Forest-a land where trees grow miles high, and magical creatures go about their busy lives. So why is Beatrice there? And how is she going to find her way home? That's what she'd like to know. To find some answers, she'll need to journey to the tallest tree in the Yule Forest, the mystical Eldtree, and speak with one of the Watchers-powerful creatures who can be as dangerous as they are wise. To Beatrice's great surprise, her Christmas ornaments turn up and lend her a hand. And she'll need all the help and advice she can get. It's certainly not her fault that she never learned how to use her magical powers in the human world, but she'll need to catch up fast. As it turns out, the Yule Forest has some big plans for her. And all sorts of creatures-some good, some not-so-good-are eager to play their part...
