The issue of fear and anxiety is prevalent in the times we live in. From birth till death, our lives will always face these issues. The Covid-19 epidemic has taught us many lessons and given us the strength to overcome gripping fear.
There are many uncertainties going on around us - wars, conflicts, persecution, violence, crime, natural disasters, terrorism, economic uncertainty, unemployment, family disunity, disease and death. Currently, we are also in the throes of a pandemic. In addition to these, we are also laden with fear for our children's future, fear for our families, fear for our financial future and fear for our own personal safety. The list goes on and on. There actually is a lot we could potentially worry about. William Shakespeare stated in his drama Julius Caesar, "Cowards die many times before their deaths"
Looking at some Bible characters who overcame fear, helps us to see our own struggles with fear through the lens of their stories and find victory in Christ. The fear of the Lord displayed into these Scriptures on deliverance from fear, may inspire us to learn how to bring our relationship with fear into a state of healthy balance.
