Every one of us has a story to tell; many of us have several.

When we listen to anyone who has lived for five to ten decades, we are enthralled by experiences which simply must be recorded.

This is part of one man's story - a tale which arose from re-reading some notes he once made and in particular from the little sentence: 'Winking Doris loves me.'

Who was Doris? Why was she winking? Were her emotions as warm as her expression of them?
