With the advent of the outboard motor, which is mainly used today by fishermen on another type of vessel called pirogues, which has become the preference for fishing, you will find that today no one uses bumboats to fish anymore. However, these boats remain and are cherished as traditional sailboats, for the purpose of competing in traditional sailing regattas both at home and abroad, throughout the wider Caribbean.
