This book makes an attempt to discuss different protocols, factors reported to play role in posttreatment crowding, the long-term retention and stability of various treatment modalities based on well-documented basic principles, to secure better idea about post treatment stability of orthodontically treated cases. Orthodontic retention is the final stage of orthodontic treatment and aims to maintain the teeth in their corrected positions after the completion of orthodontic tooth movement. Teeth have a tendency to return towards their initial positions due to tension in periodontal fibres, particularly those around the necks of the teeth.
