Vodou = Development? Haitian disenchantment continues
Monel Jules
This research is an analytical subscription, likely to galvanize the Haitian Protestant Church in particular, and para-ecclesiastical institutions in general, to open the eyes of the Haitian people to the true place of vodou in the development of Haiti. The history of the resistance against slavery places the Cayman Wood ceremony at the forefront of the Vodou solemnity with concrete results and thus marks the participation of Vodou in the emancipation of Haiti from Western serfdom. This episode rallied and inflamed an impressive number of Haitians beyond the death and national borders. In search of compensation or freedom, in remembrance of historical collusion or out of religious fervor, Haitians cling to vodou despite the many jerks that could bring it down. Texts throughout Haitian history have questioned or proclaimed the inescapable participation of vodou in the development of the country. Normally this evolution is still slow more than two hundred years after independence. This research wants to give the Church and the institutions related to it an answer as to its true place.
